Animal House

In view of the sweeping change in laboratory practices and relief to million of laboratory animals the committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision on Experimental animals (CCSEA), New Dellhi, bring the scientific Community to propagate and promote the concept of 3 R's - Reduction, Refinement and Replacement in the use of animals in Research and Education in India.

In connection with this, our institution has a registered animal house approved by CCSEA, New Delhi, since 2000 for research involving experiments in animals. For this purpose we have constituted Institutional Animals Ethics Committee (IAEC) comprising group of persons approved by CCSEA. We have conducted IAEC meeting every year in the presence of the CCSEA Main Nominee, a Social awareness member, a Veterinarian and other external / in-house Biological Scientists. The Department maintains a record of animals under its Control and Custody in the special format

Salient Feature of the Animal House

Animal house located inside the premises in calm and conducive area
Feed store (.0''x 6'.0), Rat & mice house, (11'x 11') and rabbit house (10' x 11.10') is available and provided with wooden Doors
Animal house is sufficiently ventilated with power & lighting facilities and Air-conditioner
Brick walls, Tiled mortar, Cement plastering with false roofing and exterior windows are weld meshed
Husk bedding, pellet diet, protected water and separate cages for housing of animals are given
Three teaching and non-teaching staff are being given training by Veterinarian
Animal attendant is available during week end and holiday, the Veterinarian visit animal house Whenever necessary
Waste disposal is by incineration method, needles and syringes are disposed after autoclaving
Separate animal experimental area is available in Central Animal House
